Where is the serial number for my unit? What does it look like?
The 8800R Serial number is a string of numbers and letters unique to your unit that helps us identify your product and look up information regarding this specific product. Please look to the under side of your unit for the serial number.
An example serial number is shown below. The format will always be the same, 6 numbers, followed by '9911RB' and ending in 5 numbers: ######9911RB#####
How do I clean and maintain my unit?
A dirty sensor can cause errors, such as Double and Half errors, and reduce the performance of the 8800R V2. To maintain optimal performance, perform daily maintenance on the unit. Always turn off and unplug the machine before cleaning. Avoid using solvents like thinner or alcohol. Regular cleaning and maintenance can prevent most operational problems and extend the machine's lifespan. Use an air duster and a soft bristle brush to remove dust and debris from the unit's interior. When not in use for long periods, cover the machine to prevent dust accumulation. Pay special attention to the sensors, as dust or debris on them can lead to operational issues.

Why does my unit jam?
When the motor detects excessive force, it automatically shuts off and displays a 'JAM' error code. Jamming may occur due to:
- Incorrect feeding of bills into the 8800R V2
- Bills with foreign objects like clips
- Worn, torn, soft, or folded bills that crumple
- Crooked entry of bills
- Improperly installed bill guides
- Incorrect feed gap adjustment; if too wide, it may accept multiple notes at once, causing frequent jams.
For feed gap adjustment instructions, please refer to the PDF below.
What is a feed gap? How do I adjust it?
The feed gap, which determines the height of the bill feed path, should match the thickness of a single bill. A gap that is too wide may lead to DOUBLE and CHAIN errors from multiple bills entering at once. A gap that is too tight may prevent bills from passing through or cause them to tear.
For detailed instructions on how to adjust the feed gap of your unit please refer to the link below:
What does this error mean?
Error Message | Cause | Solution |
DOUBLE ERROR |
The thickness of the last counted not is out of range of expected thickness. Two or more bills may be stuck together. |
Remove all bills from stacker. Re-count. If excessive errors occur, ensure: 1. Bill are loaded properly (ref. section 2.2 Loading the Hopper of the 8800R V2 User Manual). 2. Does my unit detect counterfeit notes?
8800R V2 is designed to detect and flag any suspected counterfeit notes. This unit provides 2CIS, UV, MG, and IR anti-counterfeit feature detection. To learn more about the detection features on the 8800R V2 refer to the FAQ question, "What do MG, UV, and IR stand for? What's the difference?"
What do MG, UV, and IR stand for? What's the difference?
The 8800R V2 uses three primary counterfeit detection techniques:
- MG (Magnetic Feature Detection): US currency has unique magnetic signatures created by specific magnetic ink in exact locations on each denomination. The 8800R V2 scans for these features and flags any bill lacking them or having them in incorrect positions as 'SUSPECT.'
- UV (Ultraviolet Feature Detection): US bills have ultraviolet features invisible to the naked eye. The 8800R V2 utilizes UV emitters and sensors to detect these anti-counterfeit features and flags any note lacking the correct UV characteristics.
- IR (Infrared Feature Detection): Similar to UV detection, US currency includes hidden infrared features. The 8800R V2 scans bills for these infrared features, rejecting any that do not meet the criteria as 'SUSPECT.'
What could cause false counterfeit detection?
A detector may flag genuine currency as 'SUSPECT' for several reasons:
- Condition of Bills: Worn, bent, torn, or crumpled bills may have compromised anti-counterfeit features, such as worn magnetic ink, affecting detection.
- Dirty or Damaged Sensors: Dirty or malfunctioning sensors may fail to detect the necessary anti-counterfeit features.
- Calibration Issues: Incorrect sensor calibration or operating conditions can lead to false positives.
To minimize errors, avoid direct sunlight and interference. For frequent issues, contact Cassida Technical Support for assistance.
Why is my unit counting notes incorrectly?
Miscounts often result from improper currency loading, with the 8800R V2 typically displaying an error and prompting for a reload. Poor maintenance, such as dirty sensors, can also cause issues, as the unit relies on clear sensing to verify genuine currency. Obscured sensors may lead to 'SUSPECT' errors or incorrect denominations. In rare cases, electromechanical failures can cause incorrect sensing of all notes. For recurring denomination errors, contact Cassida Technical Support for repair.
Why does my unit reject so many notes?
The number of rejected notes varies by mode. In SORT mode, all notes not matching the first bill will be rejected. In FACE or ORIENT mode, notes that do not match the face or orientation of the first note will be rejected. For detailed information on modes and features, check the 8800R V2 User Manual.
Does this unit sort bills?
Yes, the Cassida 8800R V2 uses advanced sensing to identify note denominations and automatically counts or sorts currency as specified. If an undesired note passes all sensors, the count will stop, and an appropriate message will appear on the TFT touch screen. For details on modes and features, refer to the 8800R V2 User Manual.
Does this unit recognize note value?
Yes, the 8800R V2 uses advanced sensing to determine the denomination of the notes being scanned.
For more information on the different detection sensors please refer to the 8800R V2 User Manual.
What type of fuse does this unit use?
8800R V2 uses a F2A250V 20mm x 5mm fuse located above the AC power inlet. If the unit does not power on, check this fuse. If replacing the fuse does not resolve the issue, please contact Cassida Customer Service.

Bill Loading
To avoid jamming, miscount and other errors such as CHAIN NOTE error, it's critical to use the proper bill loading technique.
For assistance on how to properly load bills into the 8800R V2 see the document below:
Cleaning Procedure
Dirty sensors can cause false errors such as Double and Half Note errors, and may decrease the performance of the Cassida 8800R. It is suggested that the user performs daily maintenance on the unit to maintain top performance.
For assistance on how to properly clean the 8800R see the document below:
We also have a video on how to properly clean the 8800R
Feed Gap Adjustment
The feed gap is adjusted before shipment, but it may change during transit or after extended use. Incorrect feed gap adjustment can impact the Cassida 8800R's performance, causing issues like multiple bills being pulled at once, jamming, miscounting, and Double Note (DBL) errors.
For Assistance with Feed Gap Adjustment, See the Document Below:
Calibration Procedure
The contact image sensors (CIS), Ultraviolet (UV), and Infrared (IR) sensors are factory calibrated. Over time, sensitivity may decrease, leading to ID errors. Re-calibrate the unit using the white calibration card provided.
For feed gap adjustment assistance, see the document below:
